Golf Under the Midnight Sun

Jaðarsvöllur is the home course of Golfklúbbur Akureyrar, Iceland’s second-oldest golf club, founded in 1935. The course at Jaðar opened in 1970 and was expanded to 18 holes in 1981. Today, it offers a challenging championship layout in a natural setting, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Since 1986, the club has hosted the Arctic Open, an international golf tournament held around the summer solstice. Iceland’s long summer daylight hours allow golfers to play late into the night, making midnight golf one of Jaðarsvöllur’s most distinctive experiences.
